A 'wow' sort of day!

We moored up earlyish in Ålesund. Our bus trip to Geiranger started relatively early as we would be on the bus for about eight hours. It was raining lightly as we got aboard, but nobody seemed worried - there were plenty of smiles for the ship's photographer.
After a while with the scenery getting  increasingly impressive, we stopped at a typical viewpoint. Everyone was very pleased to have a chance to stretch their legs .....
 And admire/photograph the views:
Moving on through the mountains, valleys and fjords, we got to the first of three ferries we'd be sailing on during the day. It opened its jaws for us as it arrived!
A short and peaceful cruise took us to even more remote roads ...
And another stop to admire the view of Geiranger before descending a series of scary hairpin bends. There was another cruise ship at the head of the fjord ....
Which on closer examination turned out to be our old friend, the 'Vision of the Seas'. Busy with its tenders scurrying to and fro, taking passengers ashore:
A bit more driving took us down all the hairy hairpins, through Geiranger (to be our lunch stop) and as we had a bit of spare time, up the other side for another viewpoint:
From here we could see the big hotel where we'd be having lunch, assuming it wasn't full with the 1,800 passengers off the 'Vision of the Seas'!
After a nice lunch in this big (posh) hotel, there was time to stroll round Geiranger and enjoy the views ....
Before being swallowed up by the next ferry:
And saying goodbye again to the Vision of the Seas:
And another of the ferries so common around here:
Then past the 'Seven Sisters':
And their would be suitor:
Lots more stunning views:
Yet another short ferry crossing:
And back to the ship in perfect time for our departure with a stylish farewell from a vintage fire
boat:

And on into the sunset ......

Tomorrow's write-up of Bergen may be delayed due to being out at sea and not within affordable phone reach.
